Meet the crown prince of CCNF. Show record aside, at the time he was born, Elixir was probably the best male alpaca our breeding program had produced in 16 years. Good thing too, as he and his paternal siblings had some mighty big shoes that we were asking them to fill in the years ahead. The son of three time Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass Elite Legend, and our multi-Champion Archangel daughter, CCNF Ascension, Elixir when conceived as a concept on paper was supposed to be good. We just had no idea that the stars were going to align quite as nicely as they did. The fleece fineness and phenotype of his maternal line combined with the other-worldly density and uniformity he got from his sire are virtually unmatched here, perhaps only by his younger maternal brother, CCNF Centurion. In Denver last summer, the 2015 AOA National Fleece Show essentially turned into Elixir's official coming out party as a proven Herdsire. He not only won the Champion Light Male and Judges' Choice Huacaya Male himself but more importantly, four of his offspring (CCNF Spittfire, CCNF Dropshot, CCNF Antares, and CCNF True Adoration) won Championship banners as well, leading to a championship sweep of both the Light and White Male color groups. Not too shabby for his first batch of kids. Of course one of the things we love about our boy, is that he can be bred to both light and dark females with equally exciting outcomes (Elixir is a classic dorsal beige). In fact, throughout the 2014 & 2015 birthing season, he threw everything from whites to browns, all extremely bright and fine.
