Quality breeds quality, at least most of the time! A quick look at RRoyal Stars ARI certificate will illustrate just how painstakingly the Skinners, at Snowmass Alpacas, constructed their breeding decisions to arrive at this offspring. We purchased mom as the second highest selling female at their 2007 auction.
Roy has quietly ascended to the top of our breeding program and undeniably will be a major contributor. He is out of 2 outstanding Snowmass fawns. We believe that he is a "switch hitter" and expect that he will produce both great whites and more importantly color. Mom is one of our strongest foundation females and has produced champions repeatedly. Dad is one of the best Hemingway sons with an outstanding production record, including Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass XXXtreme (brown).
He is incredibly dense, very fine, and his fleece "glows". It is extremely uniform with a baby soft hand. It breaks into long, silky, draping, opalescent locks belying his incredible fineness/density.
2009 was a breakout season for Roy. He brought raves from every judge who saw him and acquitted himself well against some of the best in the country.
Follicle density testing (Ian Watt)
Follicle density: 79.51 /mm2
S/P: 13.0:1
Dp:Ds ratio 1.42
" This is the 4th densest alpaca that we have tested in the US and the 5th in the world" (as of 6/30/09)
(For comparison, El Nino was higher at 89.5 in follicle density, but had an S/P 12.5 compared to Roy's 13.0/1.)
We have used RRoy across our herd now for three years with remarkable results in increased density and fineness. We are now using his best son RR Arturo (see his biopsy results) to replace his father in our colored program. RRoy's light fawn son, RR Bacchus just won FIRST PLACE and COLOR CHAMPION at his first show under Diana Timmerman. This is an opportunity to have one of the densest alpacas in this country working for you and improving your entire herd. Please feel free to call us to ask any questions or to discuss!
Dam: Summer Solstice of Renaissance Ridge ARI#
30597815 White Summer was purchased to bring some density to our foundation. Summer is a solid production dam who any breeder could get many quality alpacas in the years to come. This sale is an exceptional value for any buyer. If purchased she will come with a breed to Man. The breeding she comes with is worth the this price alone.
We have three daughters of Summer who we are using for our foundation breeding program. Let summer start to bring density and fineness to your breeding program. She is an easy breeder, great mother and gives birth with ease. She will feed any cria, which is really an incredible asset, an attribute difficult to find in the alpaca.
If you look at Summer's histogram at age 10 it quite impressive, she has an AFD of 23 but her SD is still below 4 at 3.9 microns. Even more amazing is her CV is only 16. Those values indicate she is very valuable as a breeding dam.
Summer's EPDs are more than respectable. Summer is above the national ranking in a number trait values. In the world of EPD breeding she will improve her cria fiber traits 6 of the 9 fiber character traits above the national herd norm by 75% at least in those 6 traits. Now, bred to one of our gifted EPD studs, she will really improve her offspring. Start to integrate EPD superiority into your herd with Summer and her cria.
Description
This is a great price for a young Herdsire to start a breeding line. River's Royal Sir Easton is the son of Snowmass RRoyal Stars. RRoyal Stars is known for his outstanding density of fiber. Stars density as measured by Ian Watt is 70.51, which at the time of measurement was 4th in the nation for density. We have directed our breeding program toward integration of density into our EPD breeding program. We have several babies out of Snowmass RRoyal Stars just for this very purpose. It is important to breed for fineness but the animal also needs density of fiber to match fineness. The future of the alpaca industry is ultra-fine fiber, but for the breeder to make money on that fine fiber, density of fiber is paramount.
Easton's shear weight for 2014 was 9.8 lbs., 2015 over 10 pounds, 2016 over 10 lbs., and all up from 6.8 pounds in the year of his birth. Not bad for a fine white alpaca. He would make an excellent herdsire for those ranches who need to integrate density and fineness into their breeding program. Snowmass genetics on both sides of Easton's lineage insure the longevity quality of Sir Easton's white dense fiber. Easton took first place in walking light fleece against a large class of large number of breeders at the 2014 International Alpaca Odyssey. This is no small accomplishment and is a testament to our breeding program. This boy would add RRoyal Stars density and fineness to any breeding program.
If you are not familiar with walking fleece classes, the fleece is graded right in the show ring and the highest scorecard wins first place. Sir Easton fleece was superior to 14 other world class light alpacas in this international show competition. Easton did not disappoint in the density of his fiber. Sir Easton is for sale at a fairly low price, this is not because he lacks quality, but because we don't plan to add him to our herdsire bench and we are trying to reduce the numbers of our animals overall. So don't ever think he is not high quality, because he truly is.
We know his testes are large and Colusa Riverside Alpacas will guarantee potency. We transport free within 250 miles of our ranch and will finance under some circumstances.
Sir Easton has excellent all around EPD values and lineage to match the genetics. Buying Sir Easton now will save you money and you will have a guarantee he will produce outstanding offspring. Not only does Sir Easton have density, his EPDs are generally above average throughout all fiber traits. See EPD trait values for 2017 under fiber tab.
