828970 White What can you say about Hemingway's Bogart other than he is renowned, WAS a one of a kind potent herdsire. Bogie's EPDs rival the best in the world. Bogart could challenge any young stud head to head for histogram results. After 18 years, his longevity is exemplary with his 2019 histogram at 22 AFD and an SD of 4.0 and CV of 17. Bogart is the direct descendant and on of Sire MSA Hemingway G171.
We are very proud to have added this Hemingway son, to our small but genetically mighty white alpacas. Bogie is renowned for his remarkable, and extremely rare, combination of flawless fine fleece, genetic superiority and flawless fineness sustained thus far to the end of his second decade. He passed all this fleece trait production to his offspring.
Compare Bogie to any male alpaca in AOA's EPD database and you will find he is superior to over 99% of all other for longevity of fineness and uniformity. Not only is Bogie superior, but because of his longevity as a herdsire, his accuracy values for each EPD trait is the highest in the database. This insures for you the customer, will be getting the improvement you expect. To go along with his outstanding EPDs, his follicle biopsy results insures density in his offspring. At age 12 he carries a DENSITY OF 60.4/MM, SECONDARY TO PRIMARY RATION OF 10.8:1 AND MEAN SECONDARY FIBER DIAMETER OF 21 AND STANDARD DEVIATION OF 2.5. Imagine what he was like at 2 years of age.
BOGART IS OFFICIALLY RETIRED. IT IS TOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO BREED. HE HAS BEEN SUCH A SPECIAL ALPACA TO DAVE AND I. WE WISH WE COULD CLONE HIM.
Dam: BBC Christmas Gingerbelle ARI#
32213089 Dark Fawn, Dark Silver Grey Gingerbelle is out of gray herdsire, Dust Devil. This girl could definitely give you a quality gray cria. She could be instrumental in integrating staple length EPD superiority to a line of gray foundation alpacas. Don't let her price fool you, she is proven, a good mother with no deficits. She simply does not work into our white breeding program.
Gingerbelle will absolutely put staple length on any cria, but fineness will be improved significantly through the pairing with fine male. She has density and compact frame with good bone and conformation.
Gingerbelle was bred to Hemingway's Bogart and produced a very fine staple length male. She conceived on the first breeding, had an uneventful birth and gestated a healthy male cria who had fantastic weight gain with Mom maintaining her body weight. You can't get a dam with better breeding qualities than that.
Since her sire was gray she also has the potential to produce gray offspring. Pairing this girl with a fine dense gray herdsire and you should have the whole package in her prodigy. Gingerbelle's EPD for staple length of+4.2. This staple length EPD is in the top 1% among all tested alpaca. The numerical value of +4 indicates she will put at least 4 inches of staple length in her offspring. Gingerbelle is truly a very special alpaca.
Description
We are excited to see what Horizon's fiber turn out to be. We took our Dam with an excellent EPD for staple length and bred her to our finest boy, Bogart to bring the best of two traits together in Horizon. Though he is multicolored his blanket is sold. We are very please so far with what we see in the fiber of this young boy.
Horizon is most likely bound to be a fiber boy or pet quality male. He is a doll, and I call him "Oreo". A friendly young boy who could bring lots of fun to a family or a spinner. Plenty of staple length and fineness for any use. He will simply not have the EPDs to sell as a herdsire. Even without having any histogram and EPD as yet, we know that any male we sell for breeding will have to have world class EPDs. The pairing he was born from was the hope to get a female we could continue to breed up, but that was not to be. Therefore, someone can have a darling little gentleman.
