Rumaki has a sturdy frame with excellent bone density. His lustrous beige fiber is very fine, remaining less than 20 micron at age 2. He has uniform crimp, density, and excellent staple length. Rumaki is the complete package. Sire of our 8x champion Special K! The judges' comments make us exceptionally proud of the product of work. Brought to our farm by luck from the notable breeding program of Fossil Ridge Alpacas as they were closing their farm, Special K was a bit on the small side with a lot of growing left to do, but with fiber that even then showed its fantastic potential. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to have K that we could not believe our luck in being able to also add her sire, Rumaki, to our program. Long fans of Rumaki, we are thrilled. Rumaki has had other great offspring that have gone on to their careers at other farms. One such notable is Fossil Ridge Rumaki's Gold Schlager whose 2012 (2-yr-old) fiber micron statistics look great: AFD 17.1, SD 4.3, CV 25.1%, SF 17.2, CF 98.8%, and Mean Staple Length 77.4mm. Rumaki adds to his long list of top finishes by winning the Reserve Color Championship and the blue ribbon in the Light Fawn/Beige Adult Male class at the 2006 MOPACA halter show. Judge Jude Anderson stated that Rumaki “has excellent confirmation, with a broad chest and strong bone and he has a fleece to match. I placed this male over the other males in this class for his fineness”. Rumaki was awarded the 2006 MOPCA Reserve Color Championship in the ultra-tough competition of this level 4 show, winning over some of the very best light fawn and beige alpacas in the industry today. Judge Anderson stated that it was a true compliment for this two-year-old male to win the Reserve Color Championship over so many excellent yearling light fawn-beige male alpacas. Rumaki is a son of the well know Hall of Fame Herdsire, Peruvian Royal Fawn. Co-owned by Double”O”Good Alpacas and Maple Brook Alpacas. His awesome genetics do not end there; his Dam Peruvian Tanya is also dam to Peruvian Lancaster. Lancaster, co-owned by AlpacaStock, Aspenwood Alpacas, and Chatham Alpacas, is a 6X color champion including the 2003 AOBA Nationals - Fawn Reserve Color Champion. Rumaki has passed unexpectedly due to illness after a cold snap. Truly a loss as we were not even able to use him yet. K and her offspring mean that much more as the female he had breed had slipped her pregnancy and we have no further siblings.

With glowing fleece and calm, easy-going personality, Song was born big (~22 lbs at birth and ~90 lbs at 9 mos) & grew at an amazing pace. She is well conformed, with a strong and straight frame even in her maturity. She has been a fantastic mom, just like her own mom and daughters. Song is the dam the you can build whole programs from, one that just keeps producing. She has had predominately white crias for us but that is due to the way she was bred. Don't be fooled by this into thinking that she is a white production dam. Her first cria was a true black female sired by a dark brown male. Her dam also produced a dark brown male sired by a grey stud. Both her dam and sire have a lineage infused with color genetics. In fact, her sire produced dark brown and bay black when bred to color. Song is worthy of praise as a production 'cornerstone' dam, so I will compliment her by praise of her progeny's exceptional traits. Regardless of color, her crias have all been desirable, some at champion levels in the show ring. They also have her spot-on confirmation, solid bones, and great coverage. Notably, her stud son Supermassive lives up to his name in conformation and coverage, as he was described by a judge as 'rooted to the ground'. Supermassive passed these traits -- in addition to an unusually long, decidedly crimpy, fiber -- to Superluminal. 'Luminal had so much fiber as a weanling that it threw off his 'boxy look' and one judge that awarded him high marks also said he would be much better once his (5 lb!) cria fleece was shorn off. Danica is another offspring that stood out from the crowd as a cria for her vitality as she literally ran around Song while learning how to nurse as newborn. Danica went on to win two banners against significant competition. Fresca, a light fawn girl from Song's daughter Aika produced fiber that was dense, crimpy and long but also so shiny that one's eye was drawn to it like to sunlight. Song's girl, Melody, went on to produce a spectacularly fleeced male, such that we kept her open for years while attempting to coordinate our timing with the stud's farm for another breeding. Eirwen, daughter of our champion black male Dark Secret is white but carries the black genetics with the same fantastic fiber and breeding potential. Song, and her dam before her, have been well loved and well bred on our farm, truly producing a cornerstone in our herd. Stunning fleece on a power packed compact body. He demonstrated this with his Color Champion win at the 2019 AOA National Fleece Show. He has proven his ability to produce black with his blue-black boy out of our Che Bella! Sadly we cannot repeat this breeding as we lost our girl suddenly this year. But we are holding Concerto close to our vest to see if we have a contender for our herdsire row. But not one to put all our eggs in one basket, Guinness's breeding list was full this year and he is our most bred stud in the breeding plan! He is hot stuff and he knows it, with his macho attitude he keeps others in line in the male herd. We cannot wait to see his production next year. He will be closing to outside breedings not contracted before July 2024 but will be available as a service sire to sold dams from Autumn Sun Alpacas.
