TORBIO is an original in every sense of the word. He was one of the original Accoyo Suri herdsires hand-picked by Don Julio Barreda and introduced to the U.S. by Nola Graham. He is the "REAL THING"! Torbio has tremendous presence. He is very proud of himself, and although he is smallish in stature, he commands the respect of all the other males in the pasture. He is also one of the last males to survive from that importation. He and Ganador are the only 2 Older Gentlemen still alive. Even at his advanced age, Torbio has a bright glint in his eye, and a spring in his step. We asked him what age he wanted to live to. Without hesitation, he shot back, "25". We asked him why 25. He chuckled and watched a butterfly go by... "Well, because very few alpacas die after 25!" He has such a sense of humor for an old guy! He is best known for his ability to pass his outstanding traits to his progeny. Even today, Torbio's fleece has blinding luster and that greasy feel that we all strive for. He has reproduced himself over and over, with well over 200 offspring registered. He is still producing champions in the show ring, and can be counted on to throw his luster, lock and density with great regularity. In 2006, Our Peruvian Accoyo Rockstar won Suri Herdsire of the Year, and his Pop, Torbio, took Reserve Suri Herdsire of the Year! Those are powerful genetics!
