AutumnSun's Patriot's Promise
Huacaya, Open (Female), Proven | Bay Black, True Black
ARI# 32586008, D.O.B. 9/5/2011, 7/8 Peruvian
Sire: Fossil Ridge's Patriot ARI#
1025293 White Our champion male was a great addition to our farm when he arrived as yearling. In his first big show, the judge, Shannon McConnell, was impressed with Patriot's "total package" and awarded him 1st in the yearling class and as the overall white Color Champion -- reporting that Patriot had the "impact you look for in a herdsire."
Patriot's regal and authoritative nature displayed as quiet confidence in the show ring and later translated to assertive attentiveness as a breeding herdsire. But beyond his calm and confident personality, his fiber qualities are also impressive. His brilliant fleece was extremely dense, soft & crimpy that held well into his maturity.
His boxy frame and straight conformation amplifies his regal countenance. This is not surprising considering his 'noble' bloodlines. In Magical Farms Herdsire Catalog book, they had professed their glowing praise of Patriot's Grandsire, PPPeruvian Dracula, who was known for his genetics for very dense fiber. Magical Farm's praise was not just manifested in Patriot but also his ciras. Best yet, these bloodlines are not overused so you breeding conflicts are not common.
In compliment of his fantastic paternal Accoyo (white) genetics, Patriot has an infusion of color bloodlines from his dam's lineage. When bred to a brown females, Patriot has produced three dark crias: a medium brown girl (who has had a 14 micron cria), our bay black female AutumnSun's Patriot Promise (who has had one of our best crias in 2014), and a bay black male. Even his white cria, AutumnSun's Sweet Patriotic Song (from a white dam), has his pleasing fiber and upright frame. Song has been one of our best foundation dams producing show worthy and colored crias (to include a bay black).
This herdsire deserves more use on a farm. He has many more years of breeding use, and would be able to produce color crias with fabulous fiber. This is your opportunity as he is gracefully retiring on our farm.
Dam: Alpaca Heights Midnight's Jetta ARI#
827444 Dark Brown Jetta has had three grey cria when bred to grey and two black cria when bred to white & fawn sires. As a dark colored full Peruvian dam that produces grey and dark crias, she is a great addition to a color breeding program.
With her full Peruvian heritage, extremely dark coloration, great conformation and coverage -- Jetta is an easy addition to your herd. Her crias have been typey in their looks, -- with excellent conformation, highly desired coverage and fine, shiny, crimpy fiber. She is an easy breeder / birther and confident with her crias.
Her price is very low because we need to move some alpacas. We intend to reduce head count this year, so make your offer before we make a deal to others.
And, we would be willing to trade Gabe, Jetta, Toule in any combination for a quality blue-ribbon silver grey herdsire or jr. herdsire. If you have an abundance of good grey genetics but need to offload a top boy due to relationships, this can be your deal! These dams have had black and/or grey cria before and would be good in black-grey program.
Jetta was bred to our pitch black Dark Secret to produce another fantastic black (another female?) cria in 2013.
Note: Her past farm said she produced less milk for her crias than they preferred; so they supplemented milk and gave plasma transfusions. But, Jetta was a BIG girl (12+ on a scale of 10) then. Open and at 205 lbs upon arrival at our farm, the transporter said she was the most overweight alpaca he had EVER seen. Her previous owner did not have the space to separate her alpacas during feedings. After controlling her feedings to bring her weight down, we were successful in having her nursing her last two crias for us.
Description
Patriot's Promise was our oldest son's first alpaca. The 'Patriot' in her name refers to her sire's name, but also conveys our pride in our country and its soldiers. The 'Promise' represents our commitment to our farm values and the alpaca community, as well as to our son and his goals.
Promise has great confirmation and looks, with a friendly and inquisitive nature. She carries herself with pride, alert and erect, on a balanced frame that is solid and proportional. Her fiber is a rich, deep chocolatey-black, offset by black legs and a black face that is set with deep black eyes.
Promise produed a beautiful DF girl by (MF) Sunset Hill's Golden Thunder that our son named "Navy Rumble" -- a memorable name. Navy has very nice fineness and uniformity and ratio of micron. At four years old, Navy still had 18 micron fleece!
Next, Promise produced a MF cria boy sired by (white) Rembrandt, famous for his lasting fineness and crimp. We hoped for color and got it in our medium fawn AutumnSun's American Lancer. Lancer had spots of color that detracted from his show career (the famous Accoyo spot genetics from his sire) but had wonderful character.
Promise then produced Betelgeuse, typey DF male by our stylish (white) Orionn, who has lots of coverage and crimpy style. Betelgeuse was well received for his uniformity, softness, staple and handle, and has lingering fineness! His challenge was that he was competing at the same classes as Val d'Sere and Mucho Macho, so he was usually 3rd. He is now breeding in another program at another happy farm.
For her recent cria, Promise produced a lovely black female, sired by our 13x champion Maelstrom! Mokkuro is so soft and silky, with a fine tight frequency crimp. Mokkuro went on to make a fantastic TB male with Stradivarius; unfortunately Mokkuro passed away before he was 6 months old so his growing slowed. We are giving him the time he needs to fully mature to his potential.
Then, Promise made a another black girl by Stradivarius that we have planned to breed to Maelstrom. Preference has all the earmarks of a good foundation breeder herself.
Since we lost our Mokkuro we had hoped to have a Maelstrom cria for our 2024 but Promise slipped her pregnancy late in the year. She needs to overwinter before breeding her again and while we have her on the sales list our extremely low, for her ridiculously low, herd reduction sales price we will not be upset if she ends up staying here for us to breed again for our program next year. She is 12 years old but she is still a good foundation dam and an easy keeper
