Contender is a Sire who produces many desirable fiber traits in his offspring. He is especially good in passing on good staple length. His Epds show heritability for staple length as well as good heritability for nearly all fiber traits. He further has a beautiful phenotype with genetic transfer of good conformation along with his other desirability. He is a Snowmass bred herdsire from the infamous stud SNOWMASS QUECHUA. Dam: Arapaho Prodigy's Pheromone ARI#
31117067 Beige Pheri is another daughter of lilhummer who has contributed significant improvement for all her female prodigy. Pheri had her first cria in 2011 from Arapaho Snow Cloud. Her 2012 cria is included in this package. The newest cria is out of Arapaho Rose's Contender. We have several prodegy from Contender and breed back to him because of what he produces. Pheri is included in a great breeding female package. Pheri breeds easily, has uneventful births, produces ample milk and is a great mother. She will come bred with your choice of Machu Picchu or Peruvian Prophecy.
Description
Prodigy will make an exemplary fiber animal or pet. He could be used for breeding given his outstanding EPD for MSL & fiber weight. His fiber is gorgeous, long, uniform and dense. Prodigy was evaluated by Dale Davis in the winter of 2013. Her assessment was that he had the best fiber on the ranch. Her evaluation showed he has luster, good architecture, uniformity of crimp in his staple length and across his blanket. Prodigy has the most discrete crimp of all our crias. Prodigy showed very well at the International Alpaca Odyssey in this 2013 show. He took 4th in both light halter and light walking fleece. The walking fleece was against many fine alpacas of many ages and shades. He could be used for breeding for a small fiber ranch. But, because his EPDs are not up to the standard we would sell in a Herdsire he priced as a fiber animal.
Prodigy has a beautiful head, square broad muzzle with flaring nostrils and perfect bite. Though Prodigy is nearly all white he does have a strip of beige along his top line and is therefore beige. His body type is very square, straight legs and overall excellent conformation. The judge at IAO was astounded by the size of his testicles for his age, so potency seems assured. Prodigy also has Bueno and Snowmass in his dam's lineage, Caligula on his sire's side.
The two 4th's as a juvenile of 8 months against this kind of competition is promising. Prodigy is on the market for a very reasonable price. He shined at the California Classic Alpaca, showing with a second place in full fleece halter as a juvenile. This is our third cria out of Contender. Prodigy has beautiful fiber on inspection at 2 years of age. His histogram is outstanding at age 2.

Prodigy's greatest strength in his EPDs is for mean staple length (MSL). The rest of Prodigy's EPDs are what would be considered the close to the norm for our national herd. He is finely fleeced with wonderful fleece qualities, but, would not be a male I would recommend for breeding.
