What a thrill it's been to not only be able to show "Blaze" but to have had that privilege, in tandem with his being our first Guns n Roses offspring. It gave us the first indication of the pre-potency of GnR, something quickly and repeatedly confirmed in virtually every one of his offspring.
His show record stands on it's own, and against some of the best in the country.
His fiber stats are outstanding.
He was biopsied and follicle tested by Ian Watt and as of July 2010, is the densest non white alpaca ever tested by or either through him or Jim Watt's lab in Australia, of any in the world.
His follicle density is a remarkable 78.3 and S/P 11.2 These numbers to not lend themselves to comparison of biopsies done elsewhere.
Blaze has started his breeding career at just 23 months. We expect him to be a major contributor to our program. His breeding will be very limited. Check out our website to see his first five cria!

Dam: RR Sistine ARI#
31620147 White Sistine is a beautifully well conformed finely fibered white breeding dam. She is out of Snowmass RRoyal Stars whose density is unmatched. She will and can bring years of quality offspring not to mention years of quality fiber. Sistine is listed on the auction for a very low price, don't think that this reflects her quality because it doesn't. We had a beautiful white male out of Sistine in 2020. She has an ideal phenotype for a breeding dam. She has a nice head, perfect bite and conformation that is correct with good bone mass. The reason for her price and sale is because we simply are not planning on using her any longer. We would certainly consider selling her bred with a reasonable increase in sales price.
What a thrill it has been for Colusa Riverside Alpaca to integrate Snowmass RR Royal Stars into a number of her offspring that we now are breeding. Sistine's expected prodigy determinations are respectable and for that reason her sale price is even better given she is a proven dam.
Here's what Sistine's breeder had to say about her. "Not surprising if you check out dad's follicle skin testing done by Ian Watt. It has shown him to be one of the densest herdsire's in the country, and not only a champion in his own right, but now a producer of champions, even in brown". Sistine has had several offspring for us and she gestates without any problems, is given to birthing easy, and she is a wonderful mother.
Description
Apollo has renowned density on both sides of his genetic lineage. His father RR Gun's A Blazin has the densest colored fleece in the nation. His dam is out of Snowmass RRoyal Stars who fleece is also in the top national herdsires for density. This young cria has so much promise as a junior herdsire, mostly in density, but he also has fineness, crimp, handle and all the makings of a champion. We have been working hard for the past two years to integrate density into our ultra fine fleeced alpacas. We have the fineness, we have the EPDs for fineness and we will now being improving those world class EPDs in our stock with the next step of improvement of density and ultimately fleece weight, the EPD measure for density. Apollo has impeccable conformation and ideal phenotype.
Apollo will bring density, color, fineness, conformation and genetics to any breeding program. Colusa Riverside is branching out into the world of color. We have as our business goal to have the best EPDs regardless of color of the animal. We are at our goal in white and it is now time to bring our customers the same EPD quality in color. Apollo is our first step in that direction.
Apollo is grandson of the renowned Guns & Roses sire. Aussie on the top and Snowmass on the bottom of his lineage. Lots of exemplary fiber in this boy, but he also has EPDs that are in the national herd norm. Bred with a 1%er female for brown or grey could give could give great improvement. Apollo is a fine prospect as a junior herdsire, an the price is right. We will guarantee potency in Apollo to any buyer. He will be part of our show string for 2015.
