Quality breeds quality, at least most of the time! A quick look at RRoyal Stars ARI certificate will illustrate just how painstakingly the Skinners, at Snowmass Alpacas, constructed their breeding decisions to arrive at this offspring. We purchased mom as the second highest selling female at their 2007 auction.
Roy has quietly ascended to the top of our breeding program and undeniably will be a major contributor. He is out of 2 outstanding Snowmass fawns. We believe that he is a "switch hitter" and expect that he will produce both great whites and more importantly color. Mom is one of our strongest foundation females and has produced champions repeatedly. Dad is one of the best Hemingway sons with an outstanding production record, including Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass XXXtreme (brown).
He is incredibly dense, very fine, and his fleece "glows". It is extremely uniform with a baby soft hand. It breaks into long, silky, draping, opalescent locks belying his incredible fineness/density.
2009 was a breakout season for Roy. He brought raves from every judge who saw him and acquitted himself well against some of the best in the country.
Follicle density testing (Ian Watt)
Follicle density: 79.51 /mm2
S/P: 13.0:1
Dp:Ds ratio 1.42
" This is the 4th densest alpaca that we have tested in the US and the 5th in the world" (as of 6/30/09)
(For comparison, El Nino was higher at 89.5 in follicle density, but had an S/P 12.5 compared to Roy's 13.0/1.)
We have used RRoy across our herd now for three years with remarkable results in increased density and fineness. We are now using his best son RR Arturo (see his biopsy results) to replace his father in our colored program. RRoy's light fawn son, RR Bacchus just won FIRST PLACE and COLOR CHAMPION at his first show under Diana Timmerman. This is an opportunity to have one of the densest alpacas in this country working for you and improving your entire herd. Please feel free to call us to ask any questions or to discuss!
Dam: RR Juliette_deleted_11/10/2020 8:51:59 PM ARI#
31620222 White Juliette has been and will continue to be an important quality dam in our breeding program. Juliette makes the needed addition to our foundation with her lineage, fiber quality and EPD package. She is progeny of Derwydd El Nino's Accoyo Manchu and will again be bred to our Majestic's "Man". Her last cria is a big beautiful girl.
When we want to bring in outside genetics for any given fiber trait, Juliette is our go to girl. She is a great mother, breeds easily, holds her weight, and will nurse other's crias. Her daughter Destony also inherited this valuable nursing trait.
Juliette also brings the trifecta of desired fiber traits to her offspring. Those are fineness, uniformity of fineness, and staple length, both pheno-typically and in her EPDS. Genetically, she will improve her progeny's fiber traits in every value. Juliette's fiber weight EPD is in the 5 percentile at +0.777, which indicates her offspring will have nearly a pound more fiber than Juliette. Juliette has given us 3 foundation offspring and one herdsire. Each have beautiful fiber, no conformation faults and she is turning out to be one our most valuable foundation dam.
Juliette is of substantial stature and bone. This will be a positive characteristic for her breeding longevity. She should have years more of production. All of Juliette's offspring have done well in the show ring with one making a respectable showing at the 2015 Futurity.
A look at Juliette's histogram shows she has some exceptional fiber character traits. Her staple length is quite good. It does no good to have fine fiber is it's length is so short as to make it impossible to truly utilize. Juliette last cria, Rembrandt's River Wild is out of FDA Rembrandt by El Nino, whose EPD for SD is in the 1% club, so this pairing has resulted in superior EPDs in this offspring. Juliette's fiber trait EPD values are overall better than about 90% of the national herd. It is one thing to have these superior traits in one trait but not in 6 traits.
Description
Another son of Snowmass RRoyal Stars, one of densest white herdsire in the nation. We are so hopeful Hercules will become the herdsire for a growing farm. We have so many white ultra fine girls who need some density in their genetic package, so we will use Hercules initially until purchased. Hercules is for sale as are most of our animals, but we truly hope great density integration into our EPD breeding program. The best combination of any offspring is ultra fine fiber that has longevity and fiber density that guarantees a large fiber yield. We have the fineness and longevity of fineness in our EPDs and stock and will now add fiber weight to our already world class alpacas.
Hercules fleece is elite. This became evident when he placed 6th at the futurity against 15 white juveniles. A good accomplishment and a testament to our breeding program given we competed against the biggest and best in the industry and in the most difficult color class.
Hercules is beautiful and well conformed. He has a regal look about him, maybe he knows something we don't. His sales price is a result of his unproven status and young age. His EPDs are well above the national herd norm, and he will improve his progeny in nearly every fiber trait. Please see his EPD trait values below.
Hercules has many renowned Snowmass herdsires on the top side of his genetic tree and on the bottom his grandfather is El Nino Accoyo Manchu. Both of these successful line breeding brought together to produce Hercules. We guarantee potency in all our sold young Herdsires. We also stand behind any and all sales which includes full support during and after the sales.
